Editing: blog task Psycho (1960): In this short clip of the movie Psycho; The editor of this  thriller , received four Academy Award nominations. The movie received abundant fame for the famous shower scene, a 45-second sequence that originated from editing. The cutting of the hand,  shadow on the shower curtain, and the shower itself, were all done with extreme precision. The edit, has a  d ramatic change in pace is achieved by editing because the straight cuts between each clip occurs very frequently, which creates the effect of a fast pace as the film continues. This is achieved post filming by editing because the editor alternates between different camera angles in order to present various angles of the scene. The point where the editing was the fastest in the clip was when the intruder was attempting top stab the woman in the shower, where there were fast straight cut edits between each knife stroke. The pace of the action then slowed down towards the end of the clips when

Cinematography feedback and learner response

Cinematography feedback and learner response Mr Halsey - The opening feels more like a slideshow than a film. I know the video kicks in later but something to consider in future. You will need to produce professional level video work for coursework later in the year! - The camerawork is generally excellent: steady, well-shot and in focus. I also like the font you've used - it's modern and professional. - Revise tracking shot: a tracking shot can't be going down stairs (it's on wheels!) That shot would be handheld. Also, what is an action shot? I think you may actually be showing an editing term - match-on-action. We'll be covering this later in the year but great if you're learning it already! Reflection: WWW: Camera work was done well. EBI: Make the video more into a film. I think overall the editing could have been better. I need to focus more on tracking shot because it was done wrong. Furthermore, need to focus on the close ups and mak

Blade Review 2049 Review

Blade Review 2049 Review Blade Runner 2049 - a gigantic spectacle of pure hallucinatory craziness: I agree with some of the content in this article even though I didn't quite engage with the narrative. I found the film quite confusing probably because I haven't seen the first film, however the film was visually appealing. The editing and cinematography made the film entertaining and also I loved the though process behind some of the shots. For example, my favourite shots were of the water reflections on the walls and props because it was  aesthetically pleasing.  Blade Runner 2049 - a future classic: This article really talked about setting in depth and how it started off where the first film ended but had some excellent futuristic aspects. I agree with the fact that lighting was 'beautifully low-key' which contributed to the dark atmosphere and enhanced the lighting from the advertisements and holograms. I agree that the setting was very futuristic from the way

Moonlight

Moonlight Summary Chiron is a character of few words. Why is this?                                                                           --> I think he does not have any confidence. This is because he has not been taught the basic life skills to survive in the type of area he lives in. Furthermore, he is being rejected by his parents; this makes him try and take action of his own life and find people who will take care of him and help him. Another reason, why he is a person of few words is because since a young age he was bullied; you can infer that he did not have a voice to fight back. Also, he was not taught to defend himself. Therefore, he is perceived as someone who is weak and emotional. Adding to this, he did not know himself. This means that he was not able to express himself as a person because his identity was very hard for him to find. Furthermore, he was not taught the simple norms and values of society to function making him not able to be a sociable person.

In this opening sequence, there are a variety of camera shots, angles and movement. The first camera movement is a high angle crane shot which allows the producer to present the scene at which the whole series would be taking place; we know this because the name of the TV series is 'Prison break' which shows the events would be taking place at a prison. The two shots after that are a medium close up of a tattoo and someone's face followed by two medium shots of the main protagonists; The use of extreme close ups of an eye and origami are also presented. Close ups are used to draw focus to these shots which could also imply a small part of the narrative. A worms-eye angle is also incorporated when the camera focuses on the leg cuffs as the inmate walks towards the camera. Another high angle is then used as the main protagonist is jumping from the gate; this angle shows the audience that he is dominant and dangerous. The opening sequence ends with a zoom out tracking shot
